WACO, TX — The Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce is looking for more volunteers for the Texas Food Truck Showdown on Saturday.

The annual event is expected to draw 25,000 people to Austin Avenue and 3rd street in downtown Waco.

On Wednesday afternoon, the chamber had 158 volunteers. They were hoping to have 300 to provide the best experience possible for attendees.

"If we are short in those areas, we are not giving our guests the most that we could. It makes the volunteers who are here more frazzled because they are trying to do more things than once," Greater Waco Chamber Director of Special Events Amanda Haygood said.

She added there are many benefits with volunteering.

"It's fun. It's an amazing event but it's a great opportunity to be a part of what the Waco Chamber does," Haygood said.

Sue Damhesel who is volunteering for the first time with the event is excited to participate.

"I want to get involved with the community and what better way with the food truck," said Damhesel. "I'm new to the Waco Chamber and so this is a great opportunity to start helping the community."

If you are interested in volunteering, you can sign up online.

If you are unable to volunteer, Haygood encourages you to attend the event, which will have have 40 food trucks, music and a kids zone.

The Texas Food Truck Showdown will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
