McLennan County Sheriff's deputy injured after patrol vehicle involved in crash

WACO, TX — A McLennan County Sheriff's deputy was injured after his patrol car collided with an SUV that made an "unsafe" turn.

According to MCSO, a call came in around 5:28 p.m. for a crash involving a patrol vehicle on West Waco Drive near New Road.

MCSO says a woman in an SUV was traveling westbound on West Waco Drive while the deputy was traveling eastbound. According to MCSO, the driver of the SUV made an "unsafe" left turn in front of the deputy.

The woman refused medical attention, while the deputy was transported to a hospital with back problems and other non-life threatening injuries.

MCSO says airbags did deploy during the crash.
