WACO, TX — McLennan Community College announced on Tuesday that all students will now be able to ride Waco Transit's fixed bus routes for free.
MCC is collaborating with Waco Transit's public bus system to provide all students with a free Highlander Bus Pass. In order to use the pass, students must be currently enrolled at the college.
The pass can be used anytime that fixed routes are running -- whether to get to school, work, or anywhere else. Fixed routes run Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Each time, students will need to show their pass to the bus driver to receive the free fare. Passes can be used for Waco Transit's fixed routes only, which are Routes #1-10. Bus routes can be tracked using the free Ride Systems app, just type in "Waco Transit." Students can also see the fixed bus routes at the ridewaco.com site.
Students can pick up passes at the same place as student ID's, at the MCC Business Office. The Business Office is located in the administration building on the first floor. Passes can be picked up at any point in the semester, and it will be valid for use starting Sept. 1, 2019 through Aug. 31, 2020.
The Free MCC Student Bus Pass program is made possible by the Cooper Foundation.
