WACO, TX — A man with Central Texas ties was arrested and charged with the capital murder of his 4-year-old daughter in Fort Worth.
Rekeem Dory, 25, was arrested and booked into jail on Wednesday afternoon. Dory is a former Midway High School student.
He also trained to be a boxer while living in Waco.
According to Fox 4, his daughter, Zianne Essix, died in February. However, her death wasn't ruled a homicide until last week.
The arrest affidavit says that Dory called police and said that he found his daughter not breathing in her bed. He told police earlier in the day, his daughters were playing and Zianne had hit her head.
Officials found several bruises on Zianne's body that did not fit Dory's story, according to the affidavit.
Dory originally told officials that Zianne had gotten in trouble for not cleaning and was told to stand in the playroom after getting a spanking. He said that she pooped herself while in the playroom.
His wife said when she returned home, she believed Dory was acting strange. He had told her that Zianne had soiled herself, and he was cleaning it up. He seemed to block the playroom from her.
She also said when she saw the bruising on her daughter's body she was in shock.
Detectives traveled to Waco to look for Dory for a follow up interview. He was arrested shortly after and taken to the Tarrant County Jail.
