Man's death deemed questionable after fisherman spots body near Brazos River in Waco

WACO, TX — A 59-year-old homeless man was pronounced dead after a fisherman located him on the sidewalk near the Brazos River Sunday.

Waco Police were dispatched Sunday morning to reports of a man down near the Franklin Avenue overpass and the 100 block of S University Parks Drive.

The fisherman who called police said he located the man lying face down on the sidewalk next to the Brazos River, according to Waco PD Officer Garen Bynum.

He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as 59-year-old David Buckler. His family has been located and notified.

Buckler lived in the Waco area but was considered homeless.

Investigators have deemed his death as questionable because the cause of death at this point is not clear.

An autopsy has been ordered.
