WACO, TX — The Waco Police Department arrested a man for aggravated robbery after he pulled a knife on a victim.

On Feb. 8 at about 5:15 pm, officers were dispatched to 820 N. Valley Mills Drive on an Aggravated Robbery.

Police say a Hispanic man had pulled a knife on and robbed the victim.

Witnesses said the suspect was last seen running towards Baris.

Officers arrived on the scene fairly quickly, and were told by patrons of Baris that the suspect had jumped into a drainage ditch and then went into the drainage tunnel.

Officers saw the suspect in the tunnel and say the suspect evaded officers by running deeper into the drainage tunnel.

Officers gave chase into the darkened drainage tunnels, and ultimately found the suspect.

The suspect was later identified as Jeremiah Rodriguez. The suspect initially lied to officers about his name.

Officers spoke with the victim and he said Rodriguez approached his vehicle, open the door, grabbed a knife from the inside of the vehicle and demanded a ride.

The victim said Rodriguez was trying to take his vehicle.

The victim grabbed his keys out of the vehicle and was able to escape before calling police.

Rodriguez was arrested for aggravated robbery, evading on foot, and failure to identify.
