BRUCEVILLE, TX — A man was arrested last week for pretending to be an officer and attempting to kidnap children in Bruceville.

According to the arrest affidavit, Travis Brown attempted to put two 11-year-old girls in his vehicle while pretending to be an officer in the 300 block of Forest Creek Dr.

The girls were scared and ran home, and one of their fathers contacted authorities and confronted Brown.

Brown was arrested after the officer arrived.

On the same day, Oct. 23, another man called officers after Brown was standing in his yard and was beating on his door. This happened in the 1300 block of Woodlawn Rd.

During this incident, Brown said he knew how to open gates, and officers found that the gates at the home were broken, resulting in $2,000 in damage. He was charged for criminal mischief in this incident.
