LORENA, TX — A Lorena ISD student-athlete has tested positive for COVID-19, the district's athletic director confirmed.

The player attended a strength and conditioning practice on Tuesday, June 16.
The district is asking parents to monitor their children for coronavirus symptoms and seek medical treatment if needed. According for the CDC, symptoms include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
The district had already planned a break in strength and conditioning practices from June 29 through July 2, along with a scheduled closure for the week of July 6 through July 10.
During the two week break, the facilities will be deep cleaned.
The district says it is planning for strength and conditioning for middle school and high school students to resume the week of July 13.
