Juvenile in critical condition after handgun 'accidentally' goes off

BELLMEAD, TX — Juvenile in critical condition after police said a handgun went off accidentally on Thursday.

Bellmead police said around 11 p.m., they responded to a call of a gunshot victim in the 4000 block of East Harris Street.

Two juveniles were playing with a handgun, then it went off. One juvenile was shot in the facial area.

Police believe the gun accidentally went off.

The juvenile was taken to a nearby hospital then care flighted to Baylor Scott and White in Temple.

Police said the juvenile is in critical condition, but stable.
