WACO, TX — Waco Habitat for Humanity dedicated its 174th home to the Ledesma family on Tuesday.
Many gathered to the home to wish her and her four kids well as they walk through the finished home.
According to Waco Habitat for Humanity, one in six people in McLennan County spend half their income on home necessities and other payments. The nonprofit organization aims to lower that by building affordable homes for families in Waco
Ashley Ledesma is the new homeowner who is grateful for the outpour of community support.
"It's amazing how many people are willing to go out their way to help somebody that they don't even know. It's a good feeling," Ledesma said.
Waco Habitat for Humanity plans to build and sell five more homes by the end of this year.
