WACO, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation announced plans to place beams along I-35 over the next two months on Tuesday starting with the 11th/12th street southbound overpass in Waco.

Over the next two months, crews plan to set beams for overpasses at 11th/12th Streets, 4th/5th Streets, University Parks Drive, MLK Boulevard, Brazos River, US 84/Waco Drive, and Behrens Circle, beginning at 11th/12th Streets.

To perform this work safely and efficiently, crews plan to close all lanes of the southbound frontage road from 9th to 17th/18th Streets, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 10 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Thursday, June 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Through travelers will be directed to enter the southbound mainlanes near 6th Street and will be able to exit at 17th/18th Streets (Exit 334). Access to businesses will be maintained and local traffic will be directed to 9th Street to avoid entering the construction zone. Signage will be in place to inform and direct drivers.

The additions are apart of a state-wide effort to improve the stretch of I-35 from Laredo to Dallas/Fort Worth. Over the course of the construction period, beams will also be added to overpasses at 4th/5th Streets, University Park Drive, MLK Boulevard, Brazos River, US 84/Waco Drive, and Behrens Circle.
