WACO, TX — Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is holding its annual Farm Festival and Carnival for Veterans on Sept. 18 at the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Multiple area high schools' agricultural clubs will participate in the festival, including Robinson, Crawford and China Spring. The students will bring their animals -- pigs, horses, chickens, lambs, rabbits, heifers, steers and more -- to interact with the patients, said a spokesperson with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The 1st Calvary Horse Detachment will also be at the event providing a demonstration at the onset of the festival. Veterans groups will set up carnival games for patients.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Inner Circle and Stracke Auditorium. A ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m. to open the carnival. Parking is available across from the Auditorium.
