WACO, TX — Baylor University's Mind-Body Medicine Research Lab has received a $97,000 research grant to support a study on the effects of music on pain management and sleep in older adults.

The grant is one of 15 being given out nationwide under the National Endowment of the Arts Research Grants in the Arts category.

“These awards demonstrate the resilience of the arts in America, showcasing not only the creativity of their arts projects but the organizations’ agility in the face of a national health crisis,” National Endowment of the Arts Chairman Mary Ann Carter said in a statement. “We celebrate organizations like Baylor University for providing opportunities for learning and engagement through the arts in these times.”

Carter approved more than $84 million in grants for fiscal year 2020 as part of the Art Endowment's second major funding announcement of the year.
