WACO, TX — The Baylor Faculty Senate has voted to endorse the recognition of Gamma Alpha Upsilon (GAY), an LGBTQIA+ club.
The vote was 26 in favor and 9 opposed, with 4 abstentions.
The Faculty Senate is the elected, representative body of the faculty, according to their website.
While the Senate endorsed GAY's recognition, Chair Mat Cordon says they do not make final policy decisions.
For 10 years, the club has tried to apply for an official charter with the university, but they have been denied every semester.
