WACO, TX — Authorities were working to rescue 4 people in distress in the Brazos River Friday night.
The Waco Fire Department Special Operations units were assisting the McLennan County Sheriff's Office in the 800 block of Mabry Road.

Sheriff Parnell McNamara said the people were rescued around midnight and there appeared to be no injuries.
Several agencies, including Game Wardens and McLennan County Sheriff's Office, were on scene.
According to Sheriff McNamara, the four people were found and rescued "way down stream" after they were able to make a 9-1-1 call before their phone went dead.
There are no additional details at this time.
