WACO, TX — Ascension Providence has opened its fifth cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab).
A cath lab is an examination room with diagnostic equipment used to visualize the arteries and the chambers of the heart and treat any stenosis or abnormality found.
Ascension Providence says the new lab increases capacity for complex heart care and procedures at the hospital.
“We are excited to expand our cardiovascular services with the addition of a new cath lab,” said Dr. Charles Shoultz, cardiologist at Ascension Providence and Waco Cardiology Associates. “The latest technology in our cath labs allows us to treat patients who would otherwise travel significant distances to receive similar, complex heart care.”
The new cath lab will be used to support structural heart and the full range of heart care services, including electrophysiology, vascular and cardiac catheterization procedures.
