GROESBECK, TX — A Groesbeck family of three are safe and back in their home after being rescued from rising waters.

The Groesbeck neighborhood where the family lives has a creek that floods when the area receives heavy rain fall, but according to neighbors excess water usually drains into a manhole in the street.

During Saturday's severe weather, the manhole was covered with debris and the creek's water began to rise. With no where to drain the water rushed over the manhole and into the family's front yard.

"The last time, we watched all of our neighbors stuff float down the road, so we knew what was going on" said the family's neighbor, Tristy Pierce.

The family became trapped on their front porch as water grew as tall as their front porch steps, so neighbors stepped in to rescue them prior to the Groesbeck Fire Department's arrival.

"I got her car out for her and got them all to the hospital and on the road. The house didn't actually flood, we were able to clear the manhole before it got all the way in their home and once we did that the water started dropping quick" said Pierce.

With no damage to their home the family returned the same day without injury.
