BRYAN, TX — The recycling center off Briarcrest Dr. in Bryan is closing next month.

Bryan locals are encouraged to seek recycling services from private companies, which will cost more than the previous center, since the drive-in was free to use.

"What this allows us to do is where there weren't options in the past, there are other options now and so felt like if this is the time where there was going to be a change

This would be a good time for that change because of the fact that the recycling center is having to close down because we can no longer be at that property location," Eric Zaragoza, environmental services managers, said.

The city said upgrading to curbside recycling could cost anywhere from 600,000 to 800,000 - resulting in a higher utility bill for residents.
