COLLEGE STATION, TX — The City of College Station will hold the first warrant amnesty period of 2020 from Monday to Feb. 28.

During this period, if you have an unpaid outstanding warrant, you can pay your fine and avoid the $50 fee.

The city said that they cleared 100 warrants valued at almost $38,000 in fall of 2019 thanks to this program.

The city will have a warrant roundup after the amnesty period from Feb. 29 to March 8. City marshals, police officers, reserve police officers, and constables will arrest those who haven’t paid their fines.

"Many cities do the roundup without offering amnesty, but we think the amnesty period is essential because you can make restitution, save a little money, and avoid jail time," the city said.

Since the city has started the amnesty/warrant round up period, they've cleared more than 6,000 warrants valued at over $2 million.
