KILLEEN, TX — Killeen police say the shooting victim found lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Wednesday has died.

Police said the victim, 18-year-old Zeontre De'Shon Horton, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m.

Officers responded to the 9-1-1 call about a man suffering from a gunshot wound at 11:06 a.m. at the Bridgewater Apartments at 404 W Hallmark Ave.

Officers started to perform life-saving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived. The victim was then transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died.

Justice of the Peace Daryl Peters ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

After investigating, police identified and located the suspect who is now in Killeen City Jail, according to officials. Charges are pending a review of the case by the Bell County District Attorney's Office.

The investigation by the Killeen Police Department Homicide Unit is ongoing. Officials say more information will be released as it becomes available.
