Killeen Police investigate murder, victim is son of former Bell County Justice of the Peace

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Police are investigating a murder on Goodhue Drive.

25 News has confirmed the victim was the son of former Bell County Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown.

Brown made headlines when she set a $4 billion bond for a murder suspect in 2017.

Brown was found to be "unfit for office" by a a Bell County jury in 2019.

A petition was filed for the removal of Claudia Brown, who set a $4 billion bond for a murder suspect back in 2017.

According to the petition, Brown had failed to comply withlaw, was swayed by partisan interests and failed to be patient.

Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Goodhue Drive in reference to a 911 call about shots fired on May 4 around 12:04 a.m

Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers say they immediately started to perform life saving measures until paramedics arrived.

The victim, Kevin Anton Davis, 58, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:27 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke at the scene.

He ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

This is the 13th murder in Killeen for 2020, according to Killeen PD spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez.
