Speeding violation of 8mph leads to .11 oz seizure of cannabis in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, TX — On Jan 13. 2021, around 10:31 P.M., an officer was on Wellboard RD when he noticed a white 2015 Honda Accord, going 8mph past the posted 35mph speed limit.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle came to a complete stop near an intersection on said road.

Upon contact, the officer noted on the probable cause statement, " I was able to detect the odor of fresh marijuana coming from inside the vehicle."

Initiating a probable cause search, the officer found a gray and black backpack located in the rear passenger side of the Honda Accord. Inside, =the officer found a 'dime bag' and a Tke scale with cannabis residue.

22-year old, Khalil R. Mack, a passenger in the Honda Accord, admitted to the officer that said items where belongings of his.

The defendant was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana.

Upon further inspection, Mack admitted to the officer of also having, "2 blunts, just inside the waistband of his underwear"; the probable cause statement detailed.

The defendant was placed in the rear passenger side of the officer's vehicle, and transported to the Brazos County Jail. At said jail, the defendant was booked in - Possession of Marijuana <2 oz (MB), Unlawful Carry (MA) of a Weapon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The total weight of the cannabis seized was 0.11 oz, the probable cause statement reported.
