After an executive decision, the Marlin Independent School District Board had no announcements or comments about the superintendent's contract on Wednesday.

The Marlin ISD Board of Managers called for a special meeting to discuss the superintendent's contract. The district has been on the state's improvement required list for six years, longer than any other district on the list. It had its accreditation temporarily revoked by the state, but has a year to improve.

Dr. Michael Seabolt has been the Marlin ISD superintendent since 2015, which is the same year the Texas Education Agency announced the district was at risk of closing. Since then, the district remains open but the elected school board was replaced by a board of managers.

"Dr. Michael Seabolt continues in his role as superintendent of Marlin ISD. The Texas Education Agency is currently evaluating student performance in this district to determine the best leadership options for the future," said the Texas Education Agency in a statement.
