Moody ISD investigates after false firearm threat made at high school

Posted

Moody ISD is investigating after there was false information circulating on social media about a firearm threat made at the high school on Feb. 7.

According to the district, the threat was made at Moody High School during a school day. The district will investigate all concerns and deal with any credible threat made on campus.

They said when the threat is credible, they will notify police and parents immediately.

Moody ISD Superintendent Gary Martel released a statement about the incident:

We also understand that our parents may deal with unwarranted and erroneous information on social media. It is unfortunate that some people use social media as a tool to create discord and doubt which can turn misinformation into a much more complex issue and in turn disrupt the educational process. As always, a person may contact our campus administration and or Superintendent when they have questions.

Thank you,

Gary Martel
