The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened on Sunday.

According to the sheriff’s office, at approximately 12:43 a.m. dispatch received a call from Deborah Ball reporting a criminal trespass/ deadly conduct at her home located at the 1000 block of SE 0010 Corsicana.

Ball said that Ronnie Perkins, whom she had a criminal trespass warning filed for her location, was parked at her front gate firing a weapon.

Deputies arrived at the location minutes later and found Perkins, 60, dead in the front yard of the home from a single gunshot wound.

Deputies found Ball inside her home and determined that she was the victim of a single gunshot fired by Perkins. It struck Ball and caused her serious injury.

Deputies also spoke with John Ball, Deborah’s son, who said he fired his weapon in defense of him and his mother. He said he wasn’t sure if he struck Perkins.

Perkins had previously been arrested for trespassing at the same location, and he and Deborah had a prior dating relationship that had recently ended.
