The Alabama Buc-ee's location is reportedly being sued due to its low gas prices.
According to AL.com, Oasis Travel Center LLC filed a federal lawsuit against the rest stop company, alleging it violated the Alabama Motor Fuel Marketing Act.
The act, which passed in 1984, prohibits oil companies from selling fuel for less than it costs to buy and transport it to the retail outlet.
The first Buc-ee's location outside of Texas opened its doors on Jan. 21. AL.com says the lawsuit cites specific dates when Buc-ee's posted a price of regular gasoline under what the state law allows.
On its first day open, Buc-ee's sold gas at a rounded price of $1.80 per gallon.
KPRC said the new location is just four miles from Oasis.
"Buc-ee’s has always provided our customers with the best experience on the highway, from the world’s cleanest bathrooms to great food." a Buc-ee's representative said in a statement to KPRC. " Part of this experience includes high-quality fuels, priced fairly and competitively, and we will always strive to be our customers’ choice in the markets where we operate."
