A five-vehicle accident that took the lives of two people near Lafayette Parish is currently being investigated.
Louisiana State Troopers said that the accident happened just after 1 a.m. Thursday on eastbound I-10 east of Louisiana Avenue, according to KATC-TV.
Troopers said that an 18-wheeler driven by Killeen resident Williams Rawlings had encountered slow moving traffic on I-10. Rawlings, officials said, was unable to slow down and hit the rear end of a Dodge Ram driven by Kenneth McNeil, 45, starting a chain reaction.
McNeil then crashed into a Ford Escape driven by Geri Glasco, 24, who crashed into an 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler crashed into another 18-wheeler.
McNeil and Glasco died from their injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
