The City of Waco and McLennan County held their first joint meeting on Monday afternoon and discussed their position on proposed state legislation that could regulate eight-liner machines.
This would mean businesses that operate the machines would have to be located in certain zones, as well as obtain certificates. The proposed legislation is at the beginning and still has a way to go.
"We're in the very first preliminary stages, the bill has not been filed. So we're still working with our local legislators to even get that language drafted and then get their support on getting it through the legislative session," said Ashley Nystrom, Executive Coordinator for the City of Waco City Managers Office.
The city will continue to discuss as they move further with the proposition.
