Two people were arrested after police said they burglarized a storage unit and fled from police.
Woodway Public Safety said that it happened at the Budget Self-Storage facility located at 216 Douglas at 2 a.m. Wednesday. Officers found an open door at the storage unit and saw a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed with no headlights. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away.
The chase led officers to the McDonald's on Franklin Avenue where the driver crashed into a light pole and fled on foot. The driver, identified as Leonard West, fled on foot and hid in nearby landscape.
The passenger in the car, Monica Arriaga, was arrested.
West was found hiding and taken into custody.
Arriaga was charged with burglary of a building and possession of marijuana.
West was charged with burglary of a building, evading arrested, failure to identify, possession of marijuana.
Both are in the McLennan County Jail.
