UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A man was visiting a friend’s home in Union County when he was “viciously” attacked by two pitbulls Thursday morning.
The homeowner attempted to stop the attack but was bitten on the arm before exiting the house and calling 911, a release from Union County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Police responded to the home in the 6600 block of First Avenue and located the homeowner outside and the primary victim inside on the floor still being attacked, the release stated. He received extensive bites to his face and head while the homeowner suffered a bite to his arm. The dogs charged towards the deputies who attempted to use a catch pole to capture the dogs.
One of the dogs bit a deputy on the arm while another deputy used a taser to create separation between the pitbull and officer. At that time, deputies used deadly force on both dogs to stop the attack, according to the release.
The two injured males were transported to the hospital for treatment. The injured deputy was transported to the hospital where he was treated for a minor bite wound and released.
Both deceased dogs were removed from the scene. Officials say no charges have been filed.
