Off-duty McLennan County deputy involved in shooting

A McLennan County Sheriff's Deputy and his family are unharmed after a road rage incident late Monday, authorities said.

It happened on Antler Road around 11 p.m. 

McLennan County Chief Deputy David Kilcrease said the deputy was off-duty was in a personal vehicle when a suspect pulled a gun in an apparent road rage incident. The off-duty deputy fired their weapon and the suspect fled. No one was injured.

Kilcrease said the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident. 

Charley Wilkison, the Executive Director of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, said via Twitter Monday night that the deputy's family was inside their personal vehicle when the incident happened.

Wilkison said the incident marked the 99th officer-involved shooting incident this year.
