Hewitt karate studio teaches kids the reason for the season

Central Texas Family Karate studio teaches kids integrity, responsibility, respect and kindness.

These are lessons that rubbed off on students who took a field trip on Friday.

"To show appreciation, who risks their lives for them every day," Scott Bainton, owner of Central Texas Family Karate said. "Basically we want to do something nice for the cops and firefighters in the area."

Kids spent the time decorating and bagging the goody bags filled with gum, candy and other little things just to say thanks to Hewitt, Robinson and Woodway police and firefighters.

Each kid had a bag to give and questions to ask when they delivered the goodies.

They got to know the firefighters and police officers in the community, a way to bond and appreciate the job they do each day.

"I really liked that we helped out the firefighters and police officers because it's not every day that they get gifts from places around the world," 11-year-old Zoey Canuteson said.

This is the first year that the karate studio chose to do this and they only hope to continue it each year.
