ANN ARBOR (WTOL) - A chocolate company in Ann Arbor offering customers a free gift of marijuana sold out of the promotion in just 3 days.
MLive reports online chocolate shop Smoke’s Chocolate was advertising, “Buy some chocolate, get some weed.”
Customers were able to buy the chocolate which would be delivered by a driver, who would offer customers a gift of marijuana if they are 21 years or older.
The idea behind the shop and others like it is a loophole for cities and states that have legalized marijuana use for its residents, but have no shops available to buy it yet.
According to Forbes, entrepreneurs such as Marc Bernard of Smoke’s Chocolate and Brandon Anthony of On High Road, another online business, are giving marijuana away as gifts if customers purchase their product.
The trick is to never give away more weed than what is allowed under the state’s possession limit, Forbes says.
Forbes reports it could take Michigan until early 2020 before marijuana dispensaries are available to residents.
