In an effort to encourage public engagement, the City of Killeen is now accepting applications for the 2019 Killeen Citizens Academy.
City staff said the goal is to help people understand how their city government works for them.
During the nine-week session, people will engage with different departments, functions and programs of municipal government.
"Everything from the way the police department responds to a call for emergency to the way a water line is repaired. It's everything in between and we're hoping that what the public will gain from it is a better understanding," said Hilary Shine, Executive Director of Communications for the City of Killeen.
Registration lasts through Jan. 10.
