For the 10th year, the “Make a Wish Come True” campaign hosted by the University High School soccer team and JROTC program started passing out wishes to students at six different schools.
Students wrote letters stating what they would do with $100 to spend for Christmas. Forty-six students from South Waco Elementary had their letters chosen and began receiving their wishes. Some of the students have wished for themselves, while others make wishes for family members or friends.
"So it’s a personal thing when your kids are a part of the receiving end. So, we feel blessed and we thank everyone who’s joined in to make those wishes come true." Said Twana Lee, principal at South Waco Elementary. "They don’t always share what they wrote down on the paper, but we know that their names were chosen because they were in need of something or they wanted someone that they knew needed something."
South Waco Elementary is one of six schools where students will be receiving gifts as part of the Make a Wish Come True campaign. In total, over 240 students in the school district will be granted their wishes.
