A second man was arrested after a group of men disguised as workers attempted to rob a Bryan man by saying there was a flood on Flanigan Street.

On Dec. 17, police arrested 25-year-old Gerrick Travon Oliver on two counts of aggravated robbery for his involvement in the attempted robbery on Dec. 11.

According to the arrest affidavit, the three men were wearing white hard hats and reflective safety vests when they told the homeowner they needed to enter the home due to a flood.

The homeowner did not believe them, so the men tried to enter the home without permission.

One of the men pointed a handgun into the home, but the affidavit said the homeowner was able to prevent the group from coming inside.

The men then ran to a silver Ford Fusion and drove off. The homeowner attempted to follow them in his own vehicle, but eventually, the suspects left the car and ran in different directions.

One of the men barricaded himself in his own attic. Seven hours later, a Tactical Response Team with the Bryan Police Department entered the home and arrested 25-year-old Darius Deandre Johnson.

The affidavit said Johnson admitted to his involvement, but told police he was given a hard hat and safety vest and told they were going to buy marijuana. Johnson told police he had purchased marijuana at the house at least one time previously.

Johnson said he was not the man who claimed to be with the City of Bryan nor the man who pointed a gun into the home.

He told police he hid in the attic and would not come out on his own accord because he was scared.

Johnson was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. His bond totals at $80,000. Oliver's bond totals at $200,000 for the same charges.

The third suspect is still at large.

The victim was not injured during the robbery and the suspects did not take anything from the home. However, due to their actions, police said this is still classified as an aggravated robbery.
