Governor Greg Abbot proclaimed Dec. 5 as an official Day of Mourning with the passing of former President George H.W. Bush. Bush died on Nov. 30.
The Day of Mourning will allow state employees to attend such observances, state agencies and departments are to close on Dec. 5
The flags of the United States of America and of the State of Texas in the State Capitol Building and in the Capitol Complex, at the Governor’s Mansion, and upon all state buildings, grounds and facilities are to be flown at half-staff for a period of 30 days.
Flags are to return to full staff at sunrise of the beginning of the display day on Dec. 31.
President Trump announced Dec. 5 as a Day of Mourning on Saturday.
