An 8-year-old child was airlifted and four others were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident near Axtell.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that the accident happened at 2 p.m Friday at the intersection of SH 31 and FM 939.
Officials say that a Chevrolet SUV was traveling southbound on FM 939 when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The SUV was hit by a Ford car traveling eastbound on SH 31.
The drivers of both vehicles and two passengers were taken to Baylor Scott and White. The 8-year-old was airlifted in critical condition.
