The Texas Comptroller’s office has returned $1 billion in unclaimed property to owners since Comptroller Glenn Hegar took over the position.

“This landmark achievement represents the commitment this office has made to reuniting unclaimed property with its rightful owners,” Hegar said. “I’m proud of the folks in our Unclaimed Property program, and I encourage everyone to go to our website and see if there is money waiting for them.”

Austin resident Ed Snouffer received a check for more than $700 in unclaimed property funds. Snouffer is one of 830,000 claims that have been approved since January 2015.

The state has returned more than $3 billion in unclaimed property since the program launched in 1962. To check for unclaimed property visit this website or call 800-321-2274 (CASH).
