United Way of Brazos Valley seeks support on Giving Tuesday

United Way of the Brazos Valley is seeking donations in support of literacy in the Brazos Valley this Giving Tuesday.

All donations will go toward providing children access to books. United Way of Brazos Valley provides a free book to every baby born in Brazos Valley and holds free book giveaways throughout the year.

The United Way says that two-thirds of children living in poverty grow up without any books at home. On average, children who grow up with books in their home reach a higher level of education.

“At United Way, we believe books should never be a luxury for a child. As a mother to an active five-year-old boy, I know firsthand how much a child gains when they read," said Alison Prince, President and CEO of United Way of the Brazos Valley. "Baby Bundles and book giveaways, like Jingle Book Bash, is our way of encouraging a love of reading and providing access to books."
