The folks at Half Price Books are sharing their love for reading.

All 120 stores celebrated their own holiday, Booksgiving, with a special Thanksgiving-themed story time at 2 p.m. on  Nov. 17.

Children who attended also took home a free book as part of the company's Million Book Donation Project.

"We like to get the books in their hands, we like to help them learn to read," said Ashlynn Colson, assistant store manager for Half Price Books in Waco. "We get early readers, sometimes late readers, but we like having a variety of things to read and just putting it in their hands helps them find a place where they can feel comfortable and read."

Colson said the Million Book Donation Project donates to non-profits and educators across the country.

This is the company's first-ever Booksgiving. They plan to continue this tradition on the Saturday before Thanksgiving for years to come.
