BUTLER COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A Texas man was taken into custody in Butler County on Friday after a kidnapping victim was found in his vehicle.

Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said the U.S. Marshals Service alerted his office on Friday that 50-year-old Bobby Pearce, who lives in Hallsville, Texas, was spotted traveling on Interstate 65 headed southbound.

“When the Marshals called us, they told us they were behind the vehicle that they thought was the suspect," said Harden. “They had a unit that was following him and asked for assistance and we got there and caught up with them and made the traffic stop.”

Pearce was wanted in Fort Worth, Texas, on “outstanding kidnapping” warrants.

"We were able to make contact with him and we stopped him and got him out of the vehicle without any incident or anybody getting hurt,” said Harden.

Pearce was pulled over and taken into custody. He’s charged with the kidnapping of a minor.

“He was wanted out of Fort Worth, so we arrested him on those charges and placed him in the Butler County Correctional Facility,” said Harden. “The person he supposedly kidnapped was also in the vehicle, so we got the juvenile out and later turned the juvenile victim over to the Department of Human Resources."

According to Harden, Pearce had been “on the run” with the victim, who is also from Texas, since Oct. 18.

“We got him [Pearce] stopped and we were able to arrest him and put him in jail here and get the victim back home,” said Harden.

Harden said the victim is a minor and that the victim and Pearce are not related.

“There is no blood relation and the victim, like I said, is under 16,” he said.

Since being arrested, Pearce has waived his extradition.
