A man was charged and arrested on Thursday after police say he was in possession on heroin.
According to the affidavit, at approximately 1:15 p.m. an officer observed a vehicle parked near an area of alleged drug sales activity. The officer checked the vehicle and it was registered to an 86-year-old man.
The officer looked up the address and found that the suspect, Charles Pomroy II, also lived with the man. Pomroy had a warrant out for his arrest in Hewitt for possession of a controlled substance.
The officer attempted to catch up to the vehicle and saw that the vehicle parked in the 1800 block of South 15th Street and several people exited.
Pomroy was interviewed by the officer and was later detained. He said the vehicle was his grandfathers and when an officer searched the back of the vehicle, he found a guitar.
Under the guitar was a see-through mesh bag that had a coffee grounder with a brown substance inside the grinding area. The officer recognized the odor of heroin. Inside the mesh bag was a plastic bag with 12.3 grams of what he believed to be heroin.
Later, the controlled substance was tested positive for heroin and it was submitted to the Department of Public Safety for further testing.
Pomroy was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
He was transported to the Bell County Jail. His bond is set at $75,000.
