An officer-involved shooting in Fort Bend took place Tuesday, Oct. 9 around 4:30 a.m. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call from a woman who said a man had a gun trying to kill her.
The woman shares custody of her child with the suspect.
Deputies responded to the 3700 block of Lakeridge Canyon Dr. in the Sugar Land area.
Upon arrival, one of the deputies, Deputy J. Bulman, was shot in the calf, and his chin was grazed twice. Another responding deputy applied a tourniquet and, Deputy Bulman was transported to a nearby hospital. Bulman has been employed by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office for 7 years.
The suspect, Serik Olivares, 41, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The other residents of the home made it out safely.
The case remains under investigation.
