Red River Showdown football travels through West

Posted

If you've never heard of the Red River Showdown, you might not be Texan. Every year, the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma faceoff at the Cotton Bowl at the fairgrounds in Dallas.

The game ball for this weekend's upcoming Red River Showdown traveled through the City of West on Thursday.

As UT's Naval ROTC carried the official game ball from Austin to Dallas, the group made a stop to run the ball through West, with safety assistance provided by the police department.

OU's Navy ROTC does a similar treck on its way down from Norman.

Police Chief Barton, Lt. Milligan, who is an OU fan, and Officer Gonzales all received patches and glass mugs as a thank you.
