Superheroes took over McLane Children's Medical Center today during the hospital's seventh birthday celebration.

When patients looked outside, they found Spider-Man, Batman and more washing their windows.

Stephanie Ray's two-year-old son Ben has liver cancer.

The two visit McLane Children's Medical Center every Thursday.

"We've been here since the middle of June going through chemo," said Ray.

When he looked out the window, Ben found a special surprise.

"He saw Batman and Superman," said Ray.

In honor of the hospital's seventh birthday, the team at McLane Children's Medical Center invited superheroes to visit their patients.

The superheroes offered a helping hand by turning window washing into a memorable event for the kids.

"After everything they've been through, for them to get excited about something is amazing," said Victoria Halsey, RN at the medical center.

"We'll play tic-tac-toe and stuff with them through the windows," said Garrett Dorn from Fish Window Cleaning.

Ray said Ben enjoyed the surprise and the hospital's birthday is worth celebrating.

"We've had great doctors, great nurses. You know he's got great care and we know they're doing everything they can," said Ray.

Thursday marked the third year the superhero window washers visited the hospital.
