Get ready to see more commotion along La Salle now that construction has started on Route 77 Food Park.

Miranda Honea, project manager for Route 77 Food Park, said this half-acre park will be the first of its kind it Waco. It will have a bar, fenced in playground, air-conditioned seating and games.

There will also be room for six food trucks. Five of those trucks will be permanent vendors and the sixth truck will rotate.

"It's going to be a good place to go and hang out with your friends," Honea said. "Have a beer at the end of the day, play cornhole, but without there having to be a football game to fight traffic through."

Honea said this park also benefit nearby businesses since it will bring more foot traffic to the area surrounding La Salle.

"Happy to see another new neighbor here on La Salle," said Justing Veach, co-owner of Bare Arms Brewing. "It's really exciting to see more growth, we're seeing different things pop up."

Veach said they have already reached out to Route 77 to see if their beer could be put on tap.

"The goal is every new business that's opening in town, we want to be on tap," Veach said. "We think of ourselves as Waco's craft beer and we want to support that. We want to put craft beer in more hands."

Around eight other vendors are also looking to secure their spot on the property.

Route 77 Food Park is set to open in March.
