Bellmead police arrested a man for strangling his wife over the weekend.
Police responded to a report of a disturbance when the suspect, 33-year-old David Freeman, came out of the home with his hands in the air saying he put his hands on his wife, police said.
Officers interviewed the victim, who reported an argument turned physical when Freeman became angry and started to throw things. Freeman then grabbed her around the neck and began to strangle her, she told officers.
The victim was able to get free, but Freeman then punched her in the neck.
Freeman was taken into custody for assault by strangulation - family violence.
