The Killeen City Council will host a public hearing to consider increasing the property tax rate on Tuesday night.

At the hearing, taxpayers will have the opportunity to voice their opinion in favor of or in opposition to the proposed tax increase.

The tax revenue will raise just over $400,000.

The council voted 6-1 to set the preliminary rate for the fiscal year 2019.

There will be a second tax rate public hearing on Sept. 11, and the official vote on the tax rate will take place on Sept. 18.
