A man was airlifted to a hospital after an officer-involved shooting in Killeen on Thursday. Police identified him on Saturday.

According to Killeen police, officers were involved in a vehicle pursuit at approximately 3:52 p.m. The driver of a black SUV, identified as Mario Martin, 29, refused to stop and it led to a pursuit. The chase led to a collision on W. Elms Road and S. Fort Hood Street.

Police say that Martin rammed his vehicle into a police cruiser forcing the officer to discharge his weapon.

Martin received a gunshot wound and was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in Temple.

Martin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant and one count of evading arrest.

Martin is in the Bell County Sheriff's Department's custody and has bonds totaling $600,000.

Killeen police and Texas Rangers responded to the scene and an investigation is ongoing.

The investigation is being led by the Texas Rangers.
